Lefter Millo (1966-1997), the “Tractor” man, one of the strongest midfielders in Albanian football!

Although small in stature, Millo had a stocky stature and powerful legs, characteristics that distinguished him as a physically strong footballer and, above all, these are also the qualities that are usually endowed with midfielders, remaining one of the most difficult roles to interpret in football.
Born in Dervican, Gjirokastra, on August 2, 1966, and formed and trained as a footballer in Gjirokastra, he stood out with the “Luftetari” jerseys from a young age with the chain teams, until he came and was confirmed in the mid-80s, more precisely on February 19, 1984 in the debut match against “Skenderbeu” with the first team which still retains in its organic, the golden generation of S, Braho, Gj. Kalluci, L. Seiti, A. Boni and others, which are characterized by a dizzying speed of counterattacking play, especially that of the attack department led by the “arrow” of Albanian football Sefedin Braho.

Milo is a valuable element in the midfield that is added to the team. He does not disappoint by confirming it. He runs, steals the balls of the opponents and immediately as soon as he is in control it is difficult for the opponents to steal the ball back from him. In some matches he is even the scorer of the decisive goals in the fate of the match for his team.
Fans are often excited by his excellent form. He has a strength that is envied even by his opponents, which makes him stand out from all the others and earns him the nickname “Tractor”. He will play with “Luftetari” for two years (1984-1986), contributing in 46 matches with two goals.

When he reached the age to perform military service, based on a predetermined rule, Millo transferred to “Partizani”, in 1986, the team that had long time before observed him.
He came to the red jerseys, the team where the Gjirokasterite S. Braho had previously played, without fanfare. He immediately became one of the main points of Partizani in the midfield, and alongside another iron player, Ilir Lame, already towards retirement from football, both similar in the characteristics that made them up, Millo contributed to winning the championship title for the 1987-1988 season, even scoring several times in decisive matches.
Perhaps, here at Partizani, Millo reached the peak of his career as a footballer, which is also evidenced by the fact of his collection with the representative teams, first with “Shpresat” (U21) and then with the National Team. With Partizan (1986-1990) he played 147 matches and scored 9 goals.

After the 90s, Millo transferred to Greece, first playing for AE Larisa (1991 – 1996) and then for “Iraklis” (1996-1997), where his contribution as a footballer is not only notable but also quite significant.
He died after a car accident in Giannouli on March 8, 1997.

With the National Team jersey, Millo represented in a friendly match against Cuba in August 1988. Meanwhile, after being activated in 20 matches with the “red and black” jerseys of the Albanian National Team, he played his last match against Portugal for the World Cup qualifiers, in October 1996.

Lefter Millo will be remembered by the fans of Luftetari and Partizan, as a potent midfielder, just like a “Tractor”, who never suffered a breakdown, on the contrary he never stopped, listing his name with the icons of Albanian football.
The simple, modest man and above all a model as a footballer will be remembered with honor and respect by all his colleagues but also by the generation that had the fortune to watch him on the football fields both in Albania and after the 90s in the neighboring country.

In 2010 in his honor a statue of him would be placed in his native village with an official ceremony.
